I wrote a previous post about this topic and it can be found HERE. Jesus came to seek and to save sinful people. Reading the Bible you can see Jesus caring for people that are different and have issues. This gives me hope because I have issues and I fit into the camp that Jesus came to help!
When it comes to Jesus and his mission, I have never struggled with that. What I have struggled with is that at times I realize that I am not a good person. When looking at my past and not being perfect I have struggled with the fact that Jesus still loves me and that I am still a follower of Jesus. You may have never struggled with these concepts but I sure have!
Today we are going to look at some things that give me comfort when it comes to my salvation. I believe that God is aways speaking to us and wants us to learn. When it comes to Jesus and my salvation I do not need to forget something. When lack of assurance comes up there is something that you do not need to forget.
How you answer this question determines a lot! Think about this question: “Can I believe what Jesus said?”. When it comes to salvation we need to know that Jesus came to save not the healthy people but the sick. When I say sick, I mean people who are not perfect. If you are perfect don’t waste your time reading this. If you are not perfect, keep reading.
We are not perfect. Many times we know what we should do but we choose to do things that are not right. We do things that are not God honoring. We do things that go against what Jesus wants for us. Because of this, Jesus came to earth. Lived a life that we couldn’t live. Died a death and paid for the sins of the world. (1 John 2:2). He rose from the dead to show that he defeated death. He offers salvation to people who are not perfect to be with Him and experience grace that is irresistible. When it comes to salvation, Jesus gives it so when it comes to us not having assurance we need to see what the Bible says about salvation and our state with God. Here are some verses that I want to share with you. I know these will give you hope too!
I shared this verse with you in the last post. Its so GOOD I had to start with it!
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. (1 John 5:12-13)
Belief is essential to salvation. Jesus wants us to be sure that we know we are saved so much that He said He is telling the truth!
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life. – John 6:47
If Jesus gives us salvation, we are just recipients of salvation. We have no contribution to our salvation outside of doing our part and not being perfect. Jesus takes out our heart of stone and gives us a heart of flesh. Jesus gives us life. We have salvation because of the FINISHED work on the cross. Jesus’ perfect sacrifice. When we follow Jesus we are in the Fathers hand. Read over this slowly. Don’t miss what God wants you to know!
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else.* No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.- John 10:28-29
I know at times I have to focus on these verses. I LOVE these verses. When Im not perfect (which is often) I trust what God is saying in the Bible. I hold fast to these and I hope that you will too!
